Why I Chose Fuqua

I remember creating a list with all the schools I could consider and at the end when I factored in all my requirements, the only school left was Fuqua. I wanted to be in a smaller city to avoid distractions and focus on the program to get the most of my MBA experience. I wanted to be in a nice weather area where it does not snow. I also made sure the energy offering was strong. As an international student, I wanted to be in the most diverse class possible where I was going to be accepted as I am. Because I was moving to a new country it was important to be in a supportive environment where people care about each other.

Five Ways to Maximize Your Time at Fuqua

  1. Join a wide range of clubs to discover new industries, cultures, and faiths.
  2. Attend dinners of consequence to have deeper conversations in a small group setting.
  3. Spend time with your C lead and section to get to know them on a personal level.
  4. Attend all types of events such as sports, parties, and mixers to meet new people.
  5. Don’t hesitate to ask for support from friends, TA's or professors when needed.

My Life Before Fuqua

I worked for the 8 years prior to business school in the oil and gas industry in different roles ranging from field engineer working in oil rigs in the middle of the desert to business development in software and cloud services to support the digital transformation of energy companies. During that time, I was also a blogger and TV host on national television.

My Life After Fuqua

I interned as a Product Marketing Manager at Microsoft this summer and I am going back to Seattle after graduation to be a PMM in the OnRamp rotational program in Cloud Marketing. I realized that the skills I used the most were my communication skills and the leadership aspect of how to work effectively in a team environment.

EDGE

"I decided to do an FCCP project focused on energy. I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to experience working with a real client. I also attended both EDGE seminars to learn about the latest in energy and sustainability. It is by far my favorite class; there is always a new speaker for each class and the professor pushes us to think critically, debate the ideas and defend our opinion."
